Transdisciplinary Theme: Where We Are in Place and Time

An inquiry into orientation in place and time; personal histories; homes and journeys; the discoveries, explorations and migrations of humankind; the relationships between and the interconnectedness of individuals and civilizations, from local and global perspectives

Central Idea:  Exploration leads to discovery and develops new understanding

Lines of Inquiry:

  • Reasons for exploration.
  • How explorations have taken place over time
  • The consequence of exploration on people and societies

Key concepts: change, causation, perspective

Related concept :exploration,colonialism, power, navigation

Summative Task: You are a statue of an explorer in Discovery Museum. You are going to show and explain about your exploration to visitors

The focused learner profile within the Unit of Inquiry : inquirer, risk taker, and thinker

Inquirer: The students need to show their curiosity and idea by asking, discussing, searching, and reading more resources in order to understand reason of exploration.

Risk taker: The students will need to explore the places they have not been before.They will also learn the stories from courageous explorers in the past

Thinker: The students will need to create an observation to find out the consequence of exploration on people and societies based on the historical artifacts.
