Transdisciplinary Theme: How The World Works

An inquiry into the natural world and its laws; the interaction between the natural world (physical and biological) and human societies; how human use their understanding of scientific principles; the impact of scientific and technological advances on society and on the environment.”

Central Idea:  Understanding of scientific knowledge is constantly evolving and has an impact on people’s lives.

Lines of Inquiry:

  • What leads to advances in scientific knowledge and understanding.
  • The role of technology in scientific understanding.
  • The effects of scientific advances on people and the environment.

Key concepts: Change, Connection, Responsibility

Related concept :Ingenuity, Progress, Ethics, Sustainability

Summative Task: You are an inventor. You are going to design a product (tool) using scientific knowledge that help people’s lives.

The focused learner profile within the Unit of Inquiry : Inquiry, Knowledgeable, and Principled

Inquirer: The students need to show their curiosity and idea by asking, discussing, searching, and reading more resources in order to understand the process of innovating and inventing

Knowledgeable: The students will need to show and use the information they get in innovating using scientific understanding and method

Principled: In planning, designing, and creating the project they have, the students are expected to show that their project should make life better, for other people and for environment.
